<br />
First I knit a cheery yellow sweater, which we can all agree is a little outside of my wheelhouse.<br />
<br />
Then I ordered this yarn from Knit Picks to knit a <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/the-weekender-5">"Weekender" Sweater</a> for myself.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGH2OnIP-25s9lQdRUMObrtCqKgcpMvUzCA6366aiAI8hKUgKsc_s5t0JkXyrLckGlWTw_SqXnvMspycMGWP02JXpK8oR-tdrMRYq9x9v_u8lBzD0TFv9Zr6OSqpNnrlaI_BoQ/s1600/20190302_171903.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGH2OnIP-25s9lQdRUMObrtCqKgcpMvUzCA6366aiAI8hKUgKsc_s5t0JkXyrLckGlWTw_SqXnvMspycMGWP02JXpK8oR-tdrMRYq9x9v_u8lBzD0TFv9Zr6OSqpNnrlaI_BoQ/s320/20190302_171903.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Just look at those speckles of color.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgv8sdbiSTO5CgDeTa4Y_uuODXp4uQ7mDg6Y4WZQeiClA8nmSr7bWLvfo96vcL_nCULcC3cXH93xXbBPhrnpE7ZRk8OgsHB9yAT8XT85tBN080xhkcMDVTxFnH_JZwF70vC0j9p/s1600/20190302_171939.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgv8sdbiSTO5CgDeTa4Y_uuODXp4uQ7mDg6Y4WZQeiClA8nmSr7bWLvfo96vcL_nCULcC3cXH93xXbBPhrnpE7ZRk8OgsHB9yAT8XT85tBN080xhkcMDVTxFnH_JZwF70vC0j9p/s320/20190302_171939.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
Purple. And orange. And a touch of Cranberry. Together? In the same yarn? <br />
<br />
What is happening here?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRQR2O5YNyl4LP4IWM6kjGJ9TIPvJLFaRPt_inAbftmzlGYz6_6gPhp8lYucxHXgcIuCoMiqGE4PAHTS8SFggzJhOh5D-cK3y4bcKKHxvXKCczDS7FQHwfoVV8RvTQkGaSYwr8/s1600/20190302_171947.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRQR2O5YNyl4LP4IWM6kjGJ9TIPvJLFaRPt_inAbftmzlGYz6_6gPhp8lYucxHXgcIuCoMiqGE4PAHTS8SFggzJhOh5D-cK3y4bcKKHxvXKCczDS7FQHwfoVV8RvTQkGaSYwr8/s320/20190302_171947.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
Can you see how orange-y the base color is? In some lights it appears to be cream, but it has a definite orange tinge. The palest of pale oranges.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4NoiI-epcPsgDhDGNaJYVhDosrqe808MUkS3pRAfNmzal41PYHZNFYQjdWgakd_qcQuau7bi_l2nmOCJvzE_1L92mlC2wx_fbGfJGIgQroHGQp6tl8XWGeHlw_YHimZeltrok/s1600/20190303_111328.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4NoiI-epcPsgDhDGNaJYVhDosrqe808MUkS3pRAfNmzal41PYHZNFYQjdWgakd_qcQuau7bi_l2nmOCJvzE_1L92mlC2wx_fbGfJGIgQroHGQp6tl8XWGeHlw_YHimZeltrok/s320/20190303_111328.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
It is so pretty all yarn caked up and ready to knit.<br />
<br />
While the shape of this sweater is very similar to other sweaters in my closet that I love (Hello, <a href="http://neglectedkids.blogspot.com/2018/12/the-weather-has-finally-taken-turn.html">the easy one</a>, and <a href="http://neglectedkids.blogspot.com/2016/11/what-i-wore-knitwear-edition.html">Boxy</a>), the color is unlike anything I've ever worn. I'm either going to absolutely love or 100% hate this sweater. I have no idea which way I'll land.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWO5vIY3sDaZ1CmW812awmxw5BJRW5LFrfSu6BcTxQYKV6XETrh9PZOs4j7P_nY528gDKCNHoeG1AlaL8_Rc_lNjdlFVkbG8KGNVL__z-ZxyPDYHPRUG8PgcP7iUhcO1NJuNf5/s1600/20190303_111338.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWO5vIY3sDaZ1CmW812awmxw5BJRW5LFrfSu6BcTxQYKV6XETrh9PZOs4j7P_nY528gDKCNHoeG1AlaL8_Rc_lNjdlFVkbG8KGNVL__z-ZxyPDYHPRUG8PgcP7iUhcO1NJuNf5/s320/20190303_111338.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
This picture is completely gratuitous but if you look closely at the candle in the background you can see all the teeny tiny bites The Queen has taken out of the small candle. I keep telling her it isn't food. She's taken enough bites out of it to know it isn't food. And yet, she can not resist the delicious vanilla scent of the candle. I guess it speaks to her soul. Note to self: buy some unscented candles so the home decor can be unmolested.Mammahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02229721741744499958noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10129212.post-7384054727343693612019-03-05T11:31:00.000-05:002019-04-04T23:40:03.387-04:00Unexpected CheerSo I gathered up all my favorite sweaters<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTsV22Um8yyFyH1ku09stOdM1VuYhM8319HQOUKUC0S5UPDfMIvVbnRorJ2gFlpYBdL9m0QK8T7cuLX_7zoBsGhAoe-rlTaPnBMhROkrzucpZFb-mr4V5wCaTIzL62AJhGkG-v/s1600/IMG_2498.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="288" data-original-width="432" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTsV22Um8yyFyH1ku09stOdM1VuYhM8319HQOUKUC0S5UPDfMIvVbnRorJ2gFlpYBdL9m0QK8T7cuLX_7zoBsGhAoe-rlTaPnBMhROkrzucpZFb-mr4V5wCaTIzL62AJhGkG-v/s320/IMG_2498.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The ones I wear on a daily basis. The ones I keep within easy reach. The ones I love.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhW9hVV1OScZW5b6bnPX8R0ZMlCaJXPQvnr3SSQ4OwfwZgsCNPN8sfUkC1lNwY6NGRRHcMZmQrxwIF3KuNkyMar3kvIqaXgfzXiei7vABLYqw6WW_cRfrlnTiGjKkKoqzS91ILm/s1600/IMG_2503.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1065" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhW9hVV1OScZW5b6bnPX8R0ZMlCaJXPQvnr3SSQ4OwfwZgsCNPN8sfUkC1lNwY6NGRRHcMZmQrxwIF3KuNkyMar3kvIqaXgfzXiei7vABLYqw6WW_cRfrlnTiGjKkKoqzS91ILm/s320/IMG_2503.jpg" width="212" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I think it's safe to say there is a definite trend here. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
In my defense it isn't as monotone as it appears. There's black, grey, chocolate, beige, tan, cream AND white in there. It's a full range of neutrals.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So I guess I shouldn't have been surprised when everyone who knows me was confused when I started knitting with yellow yarn.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgypG2zU-bPlBCn1C3QCECc95LUAdf0jrQMepc-P9JweQw8R-UsSXczCxh6xBIbf2nfQOYoVKLdayHdTdAztels21M2rnPKex8m5-QR_ndJYmEC7IqurtTSKeF1zEHKmxhonYuu/s1600/20190224_121003.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgypG2zU-bPlBCn1C3QCECc95LUAdf0jrQMepc-P9JweQw8R-UsSXczCxh6xBIbf2nfQOYoVKLdayHdTdAztels21M2rnPKex8m5-QR_ndJYmEC7IqurtTSKeF1zEHKmxhonYuu/s320/20190224_121003.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
It is a bit of a shock to the system.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
They were even more surprised when I informed them that I was knitting a sweater for ME with yellow yarn.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
"Will you WEAR a yellow sweater?" they asked, the doubt obvious in their voices.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I shrugged and said "I don't know. I guess we'll find out."</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
If I hated it I could always give it to Pork Chop or Bird, and even Sweet Pea has suggested that she too might enjoy a yellow sweater.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Pumpkin was especially obsessed with this sweater, trying to fake nurse on it at every opportunity. The Greatest suggested if all else fails we could turn it into a blanket or pillow for Pumpkin.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqVl0AzDeg0Jp09eCbe7V_zqXH6BRpAsCdXDCNErHy7sCkxm_lcnDIT_JzfTCpLDohNFF0TM8WJDcnE8mCNWxmXLlQCPf1JrAT0xbQisYhyV7nLwNpnYUETxR9HUCqH0Fnw3Pm/s1600/20190302_121026.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="432" data-original-width="288" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqVl0AzDeg0Jp09eCbe7V_zqXH6BRpAsCdXDCNErHy7sCkxm_lcnDIT_JzfTCpLDohNFF0TM8WJDcnE8mCNWxmXLlQCPf1JrAT0xbQisYhyV7nLwNpnYUETxR9HUCqH0Fnw3Pm/s320/20190302_121026.jpg" width="213" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
This sweater had options.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Except when I finished it and put it on I discovered</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfX3qf_65ZRd1hxKS_CCN5a1cFjaO_MRtS520nv-vHXKjVPwXPHC1MpQCInT7k_NwTsRvw57WC1SB2ojT2yvGl1HZtcjR-EyNaM6t_PzZBvcCogv0CFHYMg6MF5UDbaqC5vIGm/s1600/20190303_105550.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfX3qf_65ZRd1hxKS_CCN5a1cFjaO_MRtS520nv-vHXKjVPwXPHC1MpQCInT7k_NwTsRvw57WC1SB2ojT2yvGl1HZtcjR-EyNaM6t_PzZBvcCogv0CFHYMg6MF5UDbaqC5vIGm/s320/20190303_105550.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
This yellow sweater is exactly what I've been missing from my life. It is unexpectedly cheerful. And I adore it. This light weight yellow sweater makes me feel sunny and happy.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVE2jCjj4GpsBaMua-oX3jtSVEnr9UyE95QdZbVMYB7tXrTRN6lAiCqCTNLtyEZ2ZEGRZPHE49IJmPpqKpEWdhx_zD_9U0dcMx86W2S0kuUHZ8B5E8oiBzdOEZb3nK7IA5ww8r/s1600/20190303_105618.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVE2jCjj4GpsBaMua-oX3jtSVEnr9UyE95QdZbVMYB7tXrTRN6lAiCqCTNLtyEZ2ZEGRZPHE49IJmPpqKpEWdhx_zD_9U0dcMx86W2S0kuUHZ8B5E8oiBzdOEZb3nK7IA5ww8r/s320/20190303_105618.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Look at that glorious texture. It is so perfect!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYVvw275JccO4MrPrY2kN_c_CjihQLnAobziY10AT8UotBpjFpfma_RLzZT8iTIeY38i98VfOnPoCS2eQ5A5C8wiTxCHY8yEaISgGCg86PNBdk_aobKedF-SDG5jRdYblrgvSK/s1600/20190303_105706.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYVvw275JccO4MrPrY2kN_c_CjihQLnAobziY10AT8UotBpjFpfma_RLzZT8iTIeY38i98VfOnPoCS2eQ5A5C8wiTxCHY8yEaISgGCg86PNBdk_aobKedF-SDG5jRdYblrgvSK/s320/20190303_105706.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Look at those deep ribbed cuffs. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Perfect!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
And of course, my favorite metric for a sweater's quality, how does it look with my jammie pants?</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEip_wl652QZEWId7JnNhi1zwHBsJ2NusnqlCoKHt5Kn8HrZnJA542ZoYUp9ZYMLKafG9wTj-3HOfHAlo4996AzK6yAFZKglSxpGzKBeSP5kO5vkNNJlKgd8h7yaAdICul9rHcOV/s1600/20190304_082554.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="432" data-original-width="288" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEip_wl652QZEWId7JnNhi1zwHBsJ2NusnqlCoKHt5Kn8HrZnJA542ZoYUp9ZYMLKafG9wTj-3HOfHAlo4996AzK6yAFZKglSxpGzKBeSP5kO5vkNNJlKgd8h7yaAdICul9rHcOV/s320/20190304_082554.jpg" width="213" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
PERFECTION!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
And now that I have a yellow sweater I finally have a full rainbow of lesser worn sweaters.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Just look at that glorious colorful kaleidoscope of knit textures.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglIrHPm0WC9_N05jbmGOpEohsBZNloFdfwRqWzRwV_D0TXJVqeWIwPB5JJJu0NNE_QtGsblqOyWD431GnD6ZtSXi84S5R_ogneF7uTWPaNWgWFKxiPw6Gjlm-O-YX4_WkXTtQD/s1600/IMG_2504.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1065" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglIrHPm0WC9_N05jbmGOpEohsBZNloFdfwRqWzRwV_D0TXJVqeWIwPB5JJJu0NNE_QtGsblqOyWD431GnD6ZtSXi84S5R_ogneF7uTWPaNWgWFKxiPw6Gjlm-O-YX4_WkXTtQD/s320/IMG_2504.jpg" width="212" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Cables, lace, knit/purl texture, stockinette, ribbing. It almost makes me want to break out from my daily uniform of non-color.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Almost.</div>

<br /></div>
<div>
I only started doing yoga so I would have an excuse to knit yoga socks. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
You can't blame me. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Yoga socks are just so cute!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
In fact I knit <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/projects/KnittingMamma/all-twisted-up-yoga-socks">my first pair of yoga socks</a> before I even started doing yoga. I wanted to be prepared just in case that thought in the back of my head, that idea of "I wonder if I would like yoga", just in case that thought turned into action. I needed to have specialized socks. Just in case. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Since then I have not only started doing yoga but I am in love with yoga. I highly recommend Yoga with Adrienne on YouTube if you're looking for a place to start. Her emphasis on enjoyment over perfect form speaks to my soul. The more turns I take around the sun, the more I am trying to let go of my perfectionist tendencies. I think we can all agree trying to do something to the best of your abilities is better than doing nothing at all because you fear you can't do it PERFECTLY. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
And all of this is just a lengthy unnecessary explanation for why</div>
<div>

<div>
<br />I knit a pair of yoga socks.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
People really underestimate how hard it is to take pictures of your own feet.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I tried for an artsy yoga pose</div>
<div>

<div>
Sitting on a yoga mat watching TV while you cuddle your napping dog is good for the soul too right?</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Technical notes:</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I think the pattern was <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/asana-yoga-socks-2">Asana Yoga Socks</a>. The yarn was Eco Alpaca. Yes, my yoga socks are fancy alpaca. I'm living my very best life over here, cuddling my dogs, watching How to get away with murder from my yoga mat. I wish I had knit the foot part just a teeny bit longer, but you don't want the socks to go under the ball of your foot (stability issues), so it is a fine line to walk and get perfect. I didn't get the length perfect this time, but that's okay. </div>

<br />
I am the worst blogger in the history of bloggers.<br />
<br />
I just flit in and out and leave you wondering for months on end if I am still alive.<br />
<br />
I am, in fact, still alive.<br />
<br />
We've had a few big changes around here in the past year. The biggest one being this...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9uAW7bXRr7lwZlDUPd_3K5oSztlzWvOrQng2YdPxe-Z-xI9G1H3vtEp6NqqTjthaB1hnfsy7ZWACdep1gV8Wtk8ckknhLu8munKeXUEbd83-6oQVG8fZMXJQWRG-82JNN8FlA/s1600/Screenshot_20181127-093602_Chrome.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="900" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9uAW7bXRr7lwZlDUPd_3K5oSztlzWvOrQng2YdPxe-Z-xI9G1H3vtEp6NqqTjthaB1hnfsy7ZWACdep1gV8Wtk8ckknhLu8munKeXUEbd83-6oQVG8fZMXJQWRG-82JNN8FlA/s320/Screenshot_20181127-093602_Chrome.jpg" width="180" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Not for Pork Chop.<br />
<br />
This is for me.<br />
<br />
I'm going back to college to finish the degree I began over 20 years ago. <br />
<br />
I don't mean to brag but...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
I'm crushing it.<br />
<br />
My super awesome cozy knitting spot has been transformed into a super awesome cozy learning spot.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5lzLllW_oCjrbMxMbB5sbQT-LJiKQVlO4dC31kpsCnmKUnD9S8tWSumbTssOh09grIBlDpqht9uHE28Q1P9ILeEEKSo0g5zBZw_vxLZzmflDo1uZ0dbN_TRSuTtC0PX6t4DjT/s1600/20190207_102005.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5lzLllW_oCjrbMxMbB5sbQT-LJiKQVlO4dC31kpsCnmKUnD9S8tWSumbTssOh09grIBlDpqht9uHE28Q1P9ILeEEKSo0g5zBZw_vxLZzmflDo1uZ0dbN_TRSuTtC0PX6t4DjT/s320/20190207_102005.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
And of course my cats are here to support me.<br />
<br />
There's been a bit of a learning curve as I find my groove balancing kids, and the house, and school, and life, and knitting. And just when I found my rhythm Spring Semester A is over. In a few weeks I will start Spring Semester B with entirely different classes that will require an entirely different study schedule and an entirely different rhythm. <br />
<br />
But that's alright. <br />
<br />
The only constant in life is change?<br />
<br />
But for the moment the kids are all in school. The Greatest is at work. It's just me and my animals. Usually this is my study time. While on break I had grand plans to get so much done, but The Queen generously shared her cold germs with me (fun fact, I only have half a tonsil. My tonsils were removed when I was 15, but for some reason half a tonsil was left behind. And it is currently swollen large enough to be three tonsils), so instead I am going to sit very quietly with a ginormous mug of tea and rest. <br />
<br />
I might even do some knitting.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Which has been terrible for my migraines (Hello changes in barometric pressure ruining my day).<br />
<br />
But it has been fantastic for my sweater wearing.<br />
<br />
And since my hair is clean here's a sweater I finished in <a href="https://neglectedkids.blogspot.com/2018/03/is-this-what-adulting-feels-like.html">March</a>.<br />
<br />

The collar is supposed to roll, but in a more deliberate way. I skipped that part and just left it unfinished.<br />
<br />
I not mad.<br />
<br />
I love the way it turned out.<br />
<br />

The bind off for the ribbing was a different one that I normally use. See the little bumps on the knit stitches just below the bind off (My Dad just said "on the what...where").<br />
<br />
I'm not mad at that either.<br />
<br />
I really like it. It's fun to find a new technique.<br />
<br />
and because I know you like it when I show you behind the curtain<br />
<br />

Just off camera: my video gaming husband, my block building big girl, and my dog just causing trouble. This picture is at least seven times louder than you think it is. And the other children aren't even home yet.<br />
<br />
My favorite part about this sweater is it looks fantastic with everything<br />

<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I'm knitting with my cats.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
No pants are the best pants.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
And what am I knitting?</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
That's a little more complicated to explain that it would seem for such a straight forward question.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I started by knitting a <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/korrigan">Korrigan</a> for a friend of mine who is due next month.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgazKcvdK-wMQ5oTtn_D6LssuyKmKBuf9deMJ9oKhHYHK0AV4m3lxaKCwyA6o8zXL5UxJrTW_OMKe10gLgPlVu3avwyExk6LSZTLvI7dhtVNKE3Bo0E5ephzNrVqbVn-yUkQeID/s1600/20181207_151542.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgazKcvdK-wMQ5oTtn_D6LssuyKmKBuf9deMJ9oKhHYHK0AV4m3lxaKCwyA6o8zXL5UxJrTW_OMKe10gLgPlVu3avwyExk6LSZTLvI7dhtVNKE3Bo0E5ephzNrVqbVn-yUkQeID/s320/20181207_151542.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I love those sweet little cables. I'm all set to bind off the body and knit the sleeves.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Ages and ages ago, I knit this sweater pattern for the Queen.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgF8mZRmaxBPUVJUXpnPp3LaVRi5ZX_gdhPynQ7pKvGAGhgrBAPymoEEcz9um1gTBzQJ-p0HteQ790xG99I7NWo-S9Xta2xDjr0jHkQENYIQ3WTCKEOzfKLeWLZxrD4IOjiSKyG/s1600/IMG_5885+copy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1065" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgF8mZRmaxBPUVJUXpnPp3LaVRi5ZX_gdhPynQ7pKvGAGhgrBAPymoEEcz9um1gTBzQJ-p0HteQ790xG99I7NWo-S9Xta2xDjr0jHkQENYIQ3WTCKEOzfKLeWLZxrD4IOjiSKyG/s320/IMG_5885+copy.jpg" width="212" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I'm not gonna lie. This picture is completely gratuitous because...</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
LOOK HOW CUTE SHE WAS!!!!!!!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1GojP7oGgUiWLgC1BRYCie6CrWN8f9-n9rfLvypiQv0lpD47rPHC6dKa44h_gXwuDiDKTCdbMQVausSlwsgO2snn39yUXgnscdRvTekO5wXvrEPFlZ2yRzLP4rSBmVq49jpGZ/s1600/IMG_5889.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1065" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1GojP7oGgUiWLgC1BRYCie6CrWN8f9-n9rfLvypiQv0lpD47rPHC6dKa44h_gXwuDiDKTCdbMQVausSlwsgO2snn39yUXgnscdRvTekO5wXvrEPFlZ2yRzLP4rSBmVq49jpGZ/s320/IMG_5889.JPG" width="212" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Who can resist that baby chub?</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I JUST WANNA SNUGGLE HER NECK!!!!!!!!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Anyways...because that wasn't weird at all...</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I found myself innocently double checking my notes from the Queen's sweater on Ravelry (cause those notes were super helpful)</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
And then I fell down the dreaded "Ravelry Rabbit hole." (that phrase may or may not be trademarked)</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Before I knew it I had lost hours of my life looking at newborn patterns and I was obsessed with the idea of knitting a teeny tiny lacey baby dress.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
And I just happened to have the most perfect white yarn to knit a teeny tiny lacey baby dress.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
And it is currently being knitted into a tiny cabled cardigan that isready for a bind off and sleeves.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Because of course it was.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I didn't let that stop me.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJLR745CJm4A7c65zyyzZEyJah05aRzxNocFWc4rksYzuz5xi5uzeCYqfaIdj_32sCvgcfKdz5WK7P1HBI55wEnEeL-GKkzRi-ByS-tTgG35XdfPC5-Kcxzz4PFR875MIthZim/s1600/20181207_151554.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJLR745CJm4A7c65zyyzZEyJah05aRzxNocFWc4rksYzuz5xi5uzeCYqfaIdj_32sCvgcfKdz5WK7P1HBI55wEnEeL-GKkzRi-ByS-tTgG35XdfPC5-Kcxzz4PFR875MIthZim/s320/20181207_151554.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Now I know some of you are freaking out.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
How could you rip out an entire sweater?</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Didn't it break your heart?</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The answer is...I didn't rip out an entire sweater.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I'm hoping that I have enough yarn to knit both. But if it comes down to it and I've got Rosemary's choice and I have to pick the sweater or the dress? I'm picking the dress. So I left the cardigan on the needles. Patiently waiting for the bind off. Or waiting to be cannibalized for the dress. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
It could go either way.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiX0-mkhoPAAHPVwnoMj54_9Atz0gE2nKd5LHhCOVPQ9zuusChONNRcb1Y5zNVWK-kRU9uQ6_o1QL9kCb5zhdoAaUkZgOcmzeMzGLGheK2t3FygjyVhgY0ZsUh1_1bY-OTSE9f-/s1600/20181207_151633.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiX0-mkhoPAAHPVwnoMj54_9Atz0gE2nKd5LHhCOVPQ9zuusChONNRcb1Y5zNVWK-kRU9uQ6_o1QL9kCb5zhdoAaUkZgOcmzeMzGLGheK2t3FygjyVhgY0ZsUh1_1bY-OTSE9f-/s320/20181207_151633.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I knit the cabled sweater from one end of the yarn, and I'm working on the teeny tiny lacey dress from the other end of the skein.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Which isn't to say it's been easy.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Mistakes were made.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I spent two hours the other night trying to unsnarl a yarn tangle. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Ask my friends.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Unsnarling yarn is kinda my super power.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Only my super power failed me, and I ended up having to break the yarn and throw away a golf ball size knot of white yarn mess.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
And I don't even want to talk about the first time I tried joining the bodice in the round.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJOR4awkbeLDcRFQ9ik0JNt0i7v3DzBQWMFnCktliYQapGuw6LKBuNx35g4NnKrO6yAiYB3aIqQG2EHQimkxo6RsSac-lJleOJyyiIlvCfZo3MFDoKBJ2sc7L16GUQIHXlJFYy/s1600/20181205_232335.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="288" data-original-width="432" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJOR4awkbeLDcRFQ9ik0JNt0i7v3DzBQWMFnCktliYQapGuw6LKBuNx35g4NnKrO6yAiYB3aIqQG2EHQimkxo6RsSac-lJleOJyyiIlvCfZo3MFDoKBJ2sc7L16GUQIHXlJFYy/s320/20181205_232335.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Like I said...Mistakes were made.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
But everything is straightened out now and I'm in a race to see if I can squeeze a gown and a sweater from the remaining yarn.</div>

I love the attention to detail Joji puts in her pattern. Look at that amazing cuff.<br />
<br />
And one more so you can see the fantastic texture on the sleeves.<br />

<br />
I adore this sweater. But now that I've completed it I have a serious problem.<br />
<br />
I am all out of fingering weight tweed yarn. Or any tweed yarn for that matter.<br />
<br />
I need to place a Knitpicks order.<br />
<br />

<br />
Oh how my standards have fallen. I no longer wait for a good hair day. My requirement is now merely that my hair be clean.<br />
<br />
I've also given up on the idea of introducing my Sunday Morning Cardigan on a Sunday Morning.<br />
<br />
Monday will have to do.<br />
<br />
It's a cute comfy cardigan.<br />
<br />

<br />
It is ginormous and warm. Offering tons of coverage to be worn with leggings or a dress or a lazy nightgown.<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
I love how easily the front flows.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqhUI4wXG2my8JTNv-K9TiTnp9php2SyEJBxfixDzIEh3OB9SCeUePIHJnMbjsiLT-YyxZt5KcX1jvwLvD-ofvIJjQwGRUSqdZpX9e6PkKP8HahcdE_VAoMtUKNUpqft9Q1CLi/s1600/20181127_102613.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqhUI4wXG2my8JTNv-K9TiTnp9php2SyEJBxfixDzIEh3OB9SCeUePIHJnMbjsiLT-YyxZt5KcX1jvwLvD-ofvIJjQwGRUSqdZpX9e6PkKP8HahcdE_VAoMtUKNUpqft9Q1CLi/s320/20181127_102613.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
But this sweater is also a hot mess.<br />
<br />
I'm not entirely sure how the charts got past the test knitter. Especially the decrease chart. Pretty much everyone on Ravelry has had to improvise the decreases because what is in the charts makes no sense and disrupts the continuity of the diamonds.<br />
<br />
The sweater is knit seamlessly. And this is a sweater that could benefit from a seam or two to help it hold its shape. The flowy construction stretches too much without seams. There is nothing to hold the shoulders. When worn long enough the sweater inevitably ends up looking like this<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinq4Iaj4_8gdu83F6POV9iDajaUDc0HA8_LYTztuqtDDQbaVXiH_TxkVDMk5fvsXeSg7YVFKVKz3nx4ShcFWlxOfH_N_U7aOvXNjV1z8OLKxT_q1K0z5yerx1HKlru0GYhALni/s1600/20181127_160606.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="432" data-original-width="288" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinq4Iaj4_8gdu83F6POV9iDajaUDc0HA8_LYTztuqtDDQbaVXiH_TxkVDMk5fvsXeSg7YVFKVKz3nx4ShcFWlxOfH_N_U7aOvXNjV1z8OLKxT_q1K0z5yerx1HKlru0GYhALni/s320/20181127_160606.jpg" width="213" /></a></div>
<br />
Which is fine when I'm chilling at home, knitting with my cats. But maybe a bit more risque a look than I planned on for an afternoon at the movies. A shoulder seam to help keep the shoulders in place would not be a bad thing. I'm tempted to create a line of crochet on the sweater to keep the shoulders from stretching.<br />
<br />
If you're going to knit this I would knit a size smaller than your size. That might help mitigate the issues with the lack of structure and side seams.<br />
<br />
And there you have it. <br /><br />Proof on a random Mondday that I have actually completed a knitting project.Mammahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02229721741744499958noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10129212.post-20772735925256087932018-12-02T14:43:00.001-05:002018-12-02T14:43:53.226-05:00What I've been up toKnitting with my cats.<br />

Which sounds like fall.<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Unfortunately our weather forecast for today is "Sunny with a high of 107."</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
That doesn't feel like fall.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
It feels like sweat.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
*le sigh*</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Despite the conflicting opinions regarding which season it is (and I guess it isn't really a conflict since Fall doesn't officially start for a few more days anyways. The weather and the calendar are actually in agreement that it is still Summer) this weekend felt like a good time to "fall-ify" the house.</div>

It makes her soul happy</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Today's lunch was brought to her by the "things that are white" food group. She did make allowances for the brown chocolate milk in her sippy cup. But that might have been because the offending colored milk was hidden.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
On the knitting front I am working on a gloriously green <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/slate-top">Slate Top</a> for Pork Chop. But miles of stockinette stitch on size 3 needles may mean I never ever ever do anything but create endless tiny knit stitches for the rest of my life.</div>

<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So happy that I'm contemplating making a Slate top for myself with some beautiful white yarn I have in my stash. That would be the third white sweater I've made for myself in the past two years. I really like to live dangerously with the white tops and the messy toddler life.</div>
Mammahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02229721741744499958noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10129212.post-69272288347107993662018-05-27T15:05:00.001-04:002018-05-27T15:07:15.636-04:00Telling Bad StoriesYesterday Sweet Pea came downstairs and said "Wanna hear a story? I used the bathroom and when I was done I threw up!"<br />
<br />
It was a terribly story. But in her defense she's only ten. Her story telling skills are not yet fully developed.<br />
<br />
She proceeded to spend the rest of the morning throwing up with intermittent diarrhea thrown in the mix just for funsies.<br />
<br />
Luckily it only lasted the morning, and by lunch she was sipping sprite, and eating popsicles, asking me for a sandwich.<br />
<br />
I was only in the kitchen for a moment but when I returned The Queen was seated on the floor quietly dipping Sweet Pea's left over germ infested popsicle stick into Sweet Pea's equally germ infested cup of sprite. Horrified I could only watch helplessly as she licked the germ infested sprite covered popsicle stick. I screamed "No! Don't do that." Realizing she had been caught red-handed she dropped the popsicle stick and began to guzzle the stolen cup of sprite as fast as she could knowing it would soon be confiscated.<br />
<br />
Sock Monkey.<br />
<br />
I knew no good could come from this.<br />
<br />
The Greatest and I speculated on what the incubation period of Sweet Pea's bug might be.<br />
<br />
The answer is 15 hours. The incubation period is 15 hours.<br />
<br />
That's how I found myself at 4:45 this morning holding a puke bucket before The Queen like a peasant with an offering.<br />
<br />
Three rounds of vomit and approximately 592 soiled diapers later I think the worst is over.<br />
<br />
But dang, I'm tired.<br />
<br />
I had intended to take pictures of my "<a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/caddington-wrap">Sunday Morning</a>" cardigan, because blogging it on a Sunday Morning just felt right.<br />
<br />
But dang, I'm tired. And I don't have the energy for eye liner. Or things like combing my hair.<br />
<br />
I do realize I'm not telling a good story either. See again the bad story about getting up at 4:45 to deal with vomit.<br />
<br />
So instead of any more bad story telling please enjoy these pictures of Sweet Pea wearing the sweater I knit for her from the yarn leftover from my Sunday Morning cardigan.<br />
<br />

<br />
It is another <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/berenice-2">Berenice Sweater</a>. There was a point when I thought I would make one for each of the girls but then reality rushed in and stomped all over my dreams. I knit <a href="http://neglectedkids.blogspot.com/2018/03/just-keep-knitting-just-keep-knitting.html">one for the Queen</a>. And then I knit this one for Sweet Pea. And then I couldn't find yarn to knit one for Bird. And I didn't feel up to trying to resize/modify the unusual construction of the sweater in a thicker yarn for Pork Chop. And then someone put The Queen's sweater in the dryer and it felted. And then I gave up on my dream.<br />
<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
But that's okay because look how cute my Sweet Pea is!<br />
<br />
I do LOVE all the details and textures in this sweater.<br />

<br />
<br />
And in a fun note when I went to take a picture of the back of the sweater<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbVHgpRdL8EtYahzrMb04DU-NWNNsiRIOOBgZRur5REviQjlCxIU7R9_rf5OJtOjO6RHwGxwVjTrSZsIDhHmUbcozm8IjSIluXz3wlm-09hNc2jJLYxLl_zV3qQh_h7FhHmLXh/s1600/20180419_063939.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbVHgpRdL8EtYahzrMb04DU-NWNNsiRIOOBgZRur5REviQjlCxIU7R9_rf5OJtOjO6RHwGxwVjTrSZsIDhHmUbcozm8IjSIluXz3wlm-09hNc2jJLYxLl_zV3qQh_h7FhHmLXh/s320/20180419_063939.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
I realized that Sweet Pea was wearing the sweater backwards.<br />
<br />
I guess that means it is super versatile?<br />
<br />
And she has lots of room to grow?<br />
<br />
Just trying to focus on the positive. Now please excuse me while I go change diaper 593. How much longer until bedtime?Mammahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02229721741744499958noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10129212.post-60374123547670737512018-05-21T14:28:00.000-04:002018-05-21T14:28:02.019-04:00To RecapOkay.<br />
<br />
I know it's been two months. But in my defense Mama has been BUSY. But now that the children are all out of school for summer things will slow down and I'm sure I'll find myself with some extra time on my hand on a regular basis.<br />
<br />
Let's all take a moment to laugh really hard while I pretend that might even be the slightest teeniest tiniest little bit true.<br />
<br />
Each "season" of life keeps getting louder, and busier, and crazier. <br />
<br />
And wonderful-er?<br />
<br />
To summarize what's been happening...<br />
<br />

Our current bad puppy but future good dog is getting huge, and these two are just as much trouble together as you think they are.<br />

My sweet Bird graduated 8th grade and is now in high school. (the picture is her kindergarden graduation vs 8th grade graduation. I love that sassy confident kid!)<br />
<br />
Speaking of high school<br />

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Pork Chop graduated high school! (Pictured is her very first day of school and her very last day of school.) I wish I had some pictures of graduation to show off but I got a tummy bug and spent a very unpleasant evening at home. I missed her Valedictorian Speech. I will never not be mad at the universe about that. (I spend five minutes puzzling out that double negative and I think it says what I mean. If not, you know what I mean.)</div>

Isn't he the cutest, tiniest, sweetest puppy ever!<br />

Just look at his sweet face<br />

<br />
He has to be this cute to make up for the fact the he needs house broken. And he won't sleep in his crate unless someone is laying with his crate. And his bladder is the size of a pea so he needs to pee every hour on the hour day and night.<br />
<br />
But look...<br />

<br />
He's just so cute!<br />
<br />
But beyond the puppy, you might have noticed that I am wearing an awesome sweater in the first picture<br />
<br />

<br />
Pattern: <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/granito"> Granito </a><br />
<br />
Yarn: Recycled Cotton from a frogged store bought sweater<br />
<br />
Needles: size 4 and size 2.5 (I'm guessing, that's what the pattern called for)<br />
<br />
Modifications: None. I just wanted to follow a pattern and not think too much.<br />
<br />
Review: I don't always knit Pullovers. But when I do they are exclusively designed by <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/designers/joji-locatelli">Joji Locatelli</a>. Seriously. My <a href="http://neglectedkids.blogspot.com/2016/11/what-i-wore-knitwear-edition.html">Boxy</a>, <a href="http://neglectedkids.blogspot.com/2017/01/leggings-dont-judge.html">Cozy Neighborhood</a>, and my nearly finished <a href="http://neglectedkids.blogspot.com/2018/03/is-this-what-adulting-feels-like.html">Grey Tweed Sweater</a> were all designed by Joji. As was this sweater.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Nothing exciting here. The back looks pretty much like the front. <br />
<br />
Also I'm thinking of cutting a foot off my hair. It's getting ridiculous. And I just took six inches off in December. <br />
<br />
But I digress. <br />
<br />
Back to the sweater.<br />
<br />
I love this sweater. I love the sleeve length, and the seam lines on the shoulder, and the overall length (I may have made mine longer than the pattern suggests). I love the yarn. I even love the neckline which is weird because it's too high for me to love, but I love it anyways. <br />
<br />
That is the magic of Joji.<br />
<br />
I think I'll knit her <a href="http://neglectedkids.blogspot.com/2018/03/is-this-what-adulting-feels-like.html">Quiet Stars</a> next<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
Which I know isn't a pullover but that doesn't matter. Cardigans will always have my heart. And I have some blue tweed I bought that specifically to become a cardigan. And I think it would be perfect to make THIS cardigan.<br />
<br />
But first I must finish the tiny pink sweater.Mammahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02229721741744499958noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10129212.post-70375317895850225102018-03-18T14:29:00.000-04:002018-03-18T14:29:26.805-04:00Just Keep Knitting, Just Keep KnittingSometimes a project comes together like magic.<br />
<br />
And sometimes you deliberately knit a sweater two sizes too small because your gauge is too large, all in the hopes that it will turn out the right size.<br />
<br />
And you finish the body of a sweater...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpkuuxKw4Z8uhWjXgp5T1hyra0Je4a8_ksMQiz8g3B6oeZeWF8RF0Gs4fg91foBDHLrTqVvG8eg1bj9nEwoUpVmzaFNp4rWJ8H77oVsOcziVn4hsi3Re3QcVjNgEWOCr7nMoLj/s1600/20180315_093930.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpkuuxKw4Z8uhWjXgp5T1hyra0Je4a8_ksMQiz8g3B6oeZeWF8RF0Gs4fg91foBDHLrTqVvG8eg1bj9nEwoUpVmzaFNp4rWJ8H77oVsOcziVn4hsi3Re3QcVjNgEWOCr7nMoLj/s320/20180315_093930.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
Only to discover that making it too small was a mistake. It fits. But only for the next three minutes or so. As soon as she grows she will outgrow this sweater.<br />
<br />
Time to frog and try again.<br />
<br />
In the mean time let's all admire The Queen in a sweater I knit her last summer and then forgot I knit it so it sat on a shelf in my closet all winter.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgeWalRLXyNyh4XsOHpWzNR7tss9P7Y0-AjRWHguX8-hrTxzTF0xPrIZb8fKVgaTEO6v-W2B9nKfdO1lc8MVew3Ngmv1LDrJEq0eZ9Gf4aBciAflpJzXwkzRZfhfuYchzFdtBi8/s1600/20180316_140706.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgeWalRLXyNyh4XsOHpWzNR7tss9P7Y0-AjRWHguX8-hrTxzTF0xPrIZb8fKVgaTEO6v-W2B9nKfdO1lc8MVew3Ngmv1LDrJEq0eZ9Gf4aBciAflpJzXwkzRZfhfuYchzFdtBi8/s320/20180316_140706.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
You can see how happy she is to be modeling for me.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
The ukulele helped improve her mood.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhs8CnF-7PYXb-amztIAQ3eYTeSK_UIiwoHZamNxyt1OGh2RqJwG5fNpq9cgXmfmB6fD6qUR8eR0xnnQX1NsEsdIZajyHJUP3Swiwz2fqHDZUG-aUF8_83qLT81qQ3UT_ePS6JC/s1600/20180316_140752.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhs8CnF-7PYXb-amztIAQ3eYTeSK_UIiwoHZamNxyt1OGh2RqJwG5fNpq9cgXmfmB6fD6qUR8eR0xnnQX1NsEsdIZajyHJUP3Swiwz2fqHDZUG-aUF8_83qLT81qQ3UT_ePS6JC/s320/20180316_140752.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
As did rolling around on the couch so I couldn't take a clear shot of the sweater.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh73aU7CEy3gy9zM8wT8k-h377iXPRsuhOb5b85j3M2juH6PgiWkE9CgpsrXUIvZihsbC0zzpNdy3wFL0EXBAQoGKwqp5GbDOuF73zC_9bBHXB8HCL-NT9Ou_prth9E4uMbCs32/s1600/20180316_141659.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh73aU7CEy3gy9zM8wT8k-h377iXPRsuhOb5b85j3M2juH6PgiWkE9CgpsrXUIvZihsbC0zzpNdy3wFL0EXBAQoGKwqp5GbDOuF73zC_9bBHXB8HCL-NT9Ou_prth9E4uMbCs32/s320/20180316_141659.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Even bribing her with a snack could only do so much. She stopped moving for a moment so the pictures are in focus, but the sweater is still obscured.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjb_lmxPrhCNHcjjRD4fhwKo4V9ikT1NkD2wAjzjgRbxVyYzbe6CtbNUcOMW_qEuJjL80fNo3knpMBuWVEOKOhwO8tnCvIGTD0U-lKluvWZxRtRiWV6SvzQKBJEm4VQCTPJZ7z6/s1600/20180316_141710.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjb_lmxPrhCNHcjjRD4fhwKo4V9ikT1NkD2wAjzjgRbxVyYzbe6CtbNUcOMW_qEuJjL80fNo3knpMBuWVEOKOhwO8tnCvIGTD0U-lKluvWZxRtRiWV6SvzQKBJEm4VQCTPJZ7z6/s320/20180316_141710.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
I did manage to snag this shot which shows one of my favorite details about this sweater, the ribbing was picked up on the wrong side of the fabric so there was a visible seam around the neck/armhole/bottom of sweater. Stitches were bound off and slipped strategically to create a very pretty edging, like a perfect crochet chain.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGopfTSq9ccXUeYOhlvNHHRIfdpoPFjjdz5gjHOQzjx8Y0GYj4UkWaE6wUxE-Y0f_OVPZ0Yhum-yim4xfaXwFTFeBK8L36uEtYBPi1qmJ1xgjEDNGluueSv4IpDqsnN5f_BoH4/s1600/20180316_134148.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGopfTSq9ccXUeYOhlvNHHRIfdpoPFjjdz5gjHOQzjx8Y0GYj4UkWaE6wUxE-Y0f_OVPZ0Yhum-yim4xfaXwFTFeBK8L36uEtYBPi1qmJ1xgjEDNGluueSv4IpDqsnN5f_BoH4/s320/20180316_134148.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Pattern: <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/berenice-2">Berenice</a><br />
<br />
Yarn: No brand acrylic I recycled from a store bought sweater I frogged. And my goodness is this sweater soft and squishy and perfect. I wish I had a million more yards of this.<br />
<br />
Needles: Eh, the pattern calls for a 4, 3, and 2.5. That sounds about right.<br />
<br />
Modifications: Because of this construction this sweater is super duper hard to modify. I probably tried to add length to the torso, as is standard for the Queen's sweaters, but the arm increases for the batwing shaping made that hard to time. <br />
<br />
Review: I really loved this pattern. It was complex, and parts were hard to understand. It wasn't a pattern for beginners. But if you paid attention and followed the instructions the results were really gorgeous.<br />

Look at all those different textures. The reverse stockinette, the cables, the lace. There's even a tiny itty bitty bit of ribbing in the corner. I love everything about this sweater. It is a tad big for the Queen but I'm not mad about that. That just means she can wear it that much longer.<br />
<br />
And because my life isn't chaotic enough, this happened.<br />

<br />
Remember my black wolly mammoth cocoon sweater?<br />
<br />
Yeah.<br />
<br />
I knit that stupid sweater all the way to 40 inches.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhw4Md2UmqlmK0kcDaZ9JC8BJtauhV5WHixURLOw7uszNJ4ESAIWiSB9ZZNixfzM5e6_W2zO6BJlxX7VWZTiYdFGDjteOkQS3DzHHhWiqNc0vaDd-XB72GLNuVa7n6m0_dxVbde/s1600/20180312_100127.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhw4Md2UmqlmK0kcDaZ9JC8BJtauhV5WHixURLOw7uszNJ4ESAIWiSB9ZZNixfzM5e6_W2zO6BJlxX7VWZTiYdFGDjteOkQS3DzHHhWiqNc0vaDd-XB72GLNuVa7n6m0_dxVbde/s320/20180312_100127.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Sidenote: Aren't my cats so helpful?<br />
<br />
Only four inches to go and that sweater would be done.<br />
<br />
But I was browsing Instagram and I saw this sweater pattern.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-uhoa6tQv36NBplSW1gCeer3m4tqeEUZIkkThmdajFAoBrZLSVE-ZdyOQSQmUod8pIWpSbcLJhyphenhyphen6wejryB4BhEfVp3_qfVxj3UZNcttJhD7F0Kg5m5PIKkcS9Ce1YbLoT8vVO/s1600/mohair-textured-sweater-pattern-7_small2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="320" data-original-width="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-uhoa6tQv36NBplSW1gCeer3m4tqeEUZIkkThmdajFAoBrZLSVE-ZdyOQSQmUod8pIWpSbcLJhyphenhyphen6wejryB4BhEfVp3_qfVxj3UZNcttJhD7F0Kg5m5PIKkcS9Ce1YbLoT8vVO/s1600/mohair-textured-sweater-pattern-7_small2.JPG" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
And it would be the perfect sweater to knit for Pork Chop to take to college next year. We don't know exactly where she will be going to college yet, we are still waiting on a few more offers. But since all the places she applied to were in colder climates she will need an expanded winter wardrobe. And it just so happens that this beautiful pattern requires mohair of the same weight as my fuzzy cocoon. After some waffling back and forth I decided to knit something I knew would be beautiful instead of my experiment into the absurd.<br />
<br />
So the big fuzzy black cocoon went into the frog pile.<br />
<br />
And frogging seemed like a good thing to do while I contemplate the striping pattern of my next Farmhouse shawl.<br />
<br />
Only this sweater did not want to be frogged. It resisted deconstruction with its entire being. Every row or two the yarn would stick and break. No matter how careful or gentle I was, I never made it more than two rows before it snapped.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKWvK0XrN7hHbKxasl2z1cANUeTje2QNiolR4JP5lWXHhqVa3_RWqa-TfHS0ZjadaO8TnaF3UgYllaZjHbeRPiVSnqAYhCBCWSsQiPlovdXSNf2LKJEx9m_hkf6N22IA9ntsu0/s1600/20180312_100926.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKWvK0XrN7hHbKxasl2z1cANUeTje2QNiolR4JP5lWXHhqVa3_RWqa-TfHS0ZjadaO8TnaF3UgYllaZjHbeRPiVSnqAYhCBCWSsQiPlovdXSNf2LKJEx9m_hkf6N22IA9ntsu0/s320/20180312_100926.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
It was not fun. Add in thirteen or so more balls like this and I gave up. In a fit of frustration I threw the entire thing into the trash.<br />
<br />
Of course then, as I was climbing the stairs, I remembered that sometimes freezing mohair can make it easier to frog. It seemed worth it to give this trick a try. But when I went to rescue the black monstrosity from the depths of the kitchen trash can I discovered that the cat had puked on the kitchen floor. And the children had actually cleaned it up all on their own with not intervention required on my part. (They may become responsible fully functioning adults after all). But this rare burst of industry on their part meant my sweater was now resting in the garbage can covered in cat vomit.<br />
<br />
It seemed like a good time to just walk away from it all. The fuzzy cocoon. The cabled sweater for college. The vomit covered mess. Sometimes dreams were meant to inspire but never be actualized. This seems to be one that was designed to keep my busy but not productive.<br />
<br />
So I turned my attention to this pile of left over yarn.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBKwuXPRZlfXr6F_rdLMzd0RQ2jxB2q2KgTKuzQpAk8z2jszJk7D2JYq3GrmcqxlbxREbg5AHvuSnNNybprWmo0EcPlISMvQlGAw7QIpMg7jLuCrWkpFXaoCGRvdtlgKyvscTM/s1600/20180312_132755.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBKwuXPRZlfXr6F_rdLMzd0RQ2jxB2q2KgTKuzQpAk8z2jszJk7D2JYq3GrmcqxlbxREbg5AHvuSnNNybprWmo0EcPlISMvQlGAw7QIpMg7jLuCrWkpFXaoCGRvdtlgKyvscTM/s320/20180312_132755.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
It just might be enough to knit a cute pink shrug for The Queen.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXLt7GNU8Xv6wB3lhV9H_3dwmSykD0wDtm_f6Cok_4_2UT7NzbryH5Z8WXyy6ldHONphKBWB1-ui7xERQ7z0FOSnCovprkTAPxg4bq6T2VJSQnHAJ-yWll96qK0qjc-IgTMPXu/s1600/20180312_180707.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXLt7GNU8Xv6wB3lhV9H_3dwmSykD0wDtm_f6Cok_4_2UT7NzbryH5Z8WXyy6ldHONphKBWB1-ui7xERQ7z0FOSnCovprkTAPxg4bq6T2VJSQnHAJ-yWll96qK0qjc-IgTMPXu/s320/20180312_180707.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>

<br />
It starts with a tiny triangle<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgT23B9DHXqKdg_rKYUQxrcoxRme388Snd6U2bCe7Wl_N42-TLd8DTpkJKLrBzQ9cI9psNYO6IBNlbeZgOwwCwnpKuVTRxgps0p1mMp0aszdunG2wx7OaY4Rsly9Vq9VuxahGVx/s1600/20180309_085148.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgT23B9DHXqKdg_rKYUQxrcoxRme388Snd6U2bCe7Wl_N42-TLd8DTpkJKLrBzQ9cI9psNYO6IBNlbeZgOwwCwnpKuVTRxgps0p1mMp0aszdunG2wx7OaY4Rsly9Vq9VuxahGVx/s320/20180309_085148.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
That grows<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyruXq-8-dSfJBEJAz4jOMO21ErR4iAd-MbwIfABh2kDiRzhYiLOT3b6xGFbINQ9wCnWtywzQ_9lT-jWtYtIPZWqFOXt2JzKCEqZU9FK3ibvv-y-nAi9qHs4thigbbvLfhbuLY/s1600/20180310_084108.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyruXq-8-dSfJBEJAz4jOMO21ErR4iAd-MbwIfABh2kDiRzhYiLOT3b6xGFbINQ9wCnWtywzQ_9lT-jWtYtIPZWqFOXt2JzKCEqZU9FK3ibvv-y-nAi9qHs4thigbbvLfhbuLY/s320/20180310_084108.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
And grows<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
And grows<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
And before you know it you're blocking a shawl<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
Add some fringe<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I think she and her neon fringe will be very happy together.<br />

<br />
<br />
I am so in love with this combination of pattern and yarn. The entire project took five days start to finish. Just over three to knit. One to block (side note: can you believe how responsibly I blocked this? A few hours in a bowl of water and it was on the floor for the cat. What has gotten in to me?). And a few hours on day five to fringe. At first I was concerned that there was too much yellow-green at the top, but we combined the blue from two skeins to create the corresponding huge stripe of blue. I think it balanced out beautifully. And the neon fringe is probably my favorite part. <br />
<br />
Because FRINGE.<br />
<br />
It was knitting magic.<br />

<br />
<br />
I am tempted to knit this a third time.<br />
<br />
So very tempted.<br />
<br />
I just need to decide how to organize the stripes/fringe. I may need a third skein so I can make the fringe all that deep teal color *gazes at yarn with starry eyes dreaming of deep teal fringe* <br />
<br />
Maybe...Mammahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02229721741744499958noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10129212.post-83064155342322749182018-03-10T15:19:00.000-05:002018-03-10T15:19:06.530-05:00I Don't Always Use TweedSo tweed isn't my only obsession.<div>

<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
This shawl is my current favorite thing!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
As a bonus the yarn was self striping and it just transitioned so seamlessly with the pattern.<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivS1YVY8_hsIciIsvo6eIUd22TN2yG1chdsVMP0mJAZdTMfvA10gVW6QXXF-ujZcTTdATL5LypoKgaDMd-aGRjCw2FJegnK9i7g3iTMpBU8QoM1ZSuCfS1o-5b1F2wNPJX0u7Z/s1600/20180309_113848.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivS1YVY8_hsIciIsvo6eIUd22TN2yG1chdsVMP0mJAZdTMfvA10gVW6QXXF-ujZcTTdATL5LypoKgaDMd-aGRjCw2FJegnK9i7g3iTMpBU8QoM1ZSuCfS1o-5b1F2wNPJX0u7Z/s320/20180309_113848.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
It was such a lucky fluke. I couldn't have done it so perfectly if I had tried.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Pattern: <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/farmhouse-2">Farmhouse </a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Yarn: Lionbrand Mandala, 2 skeins (I know! I used 100% acrylic yarn on this project and it's still my favorite thing!!!! I was blown away by this yarn.)</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Needles: Who knows. I knit this back in September and then fringed it in December. The pattern calls for size 9. I probably used my size 8 Addis.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Modifications: I don't remember exactly, but I think I added a few more garter ridge repeats, and I know I added extra rows to the thick garter section near the bottom. And I think I might have added extra garter ridges after the thick section. I played with the yarn when I added the second skein to manipulate the striping. I took a billion years to add fringe I finally decided to fade the fringe colors instead of doing random colored fringes, and I'm so happy I took the time to do that. The fringe is hands down my favorite part.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Pork Chop also loves this shawl. She loves it so much I sent her to the store with her Father to pick out two more skeins of this yarn (I told you I LOVE this yarn)</div>
<div>
so I could make her one of her very own,</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
This is what she choose. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
She laughed because she is getting ready to go to college and out of all the colorways this yarn comes in she fell in love with the "baby" colors. I see nothing wrong with that. No matter how big she gets she will always be my baby. I hope she remembers that every time she wraps up in her shawl.</div>

<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
It is currently a teeny tiny baby shawl. But it is progressing nicely. The green is closer to true color in the first picture than in the second. It is super bright. I'm thinking of saving all the bright green from the second skein to make the fringe exclusively retina burning green. As green is her favorite color I think Pork Chop will approve.</div>

<br />
I thought I might be a little insane having chosen the fingering weight version of this sweater with thin yarn on tiny needles instead of the bulky weight version with thick yarn on big needles. Who puts themselves through all those miles and miles and miles of stockinette stitch?<br />
<br />
Evidently I do.<br />
<br />
But before I knew it my sweater had a body<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKg9CSw6ewX0uu-0hcUmSPXiNxv5y3OrvC8N59ClIIufsORlYmr13zJUWOwsz3GNmkLQ0eHVIpIcYlA-X0KTmOuYqP7FGwr4mElJmp3gUBAyPTTRVGRSgd5vjflRe7SWomCass/s1600/20180306_084617.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKg9CSw6ewX0uu-0hcUmSPXiNxv5y3OrvC8N59ClIIufsORlYmr13zJUWOwsz3GNmkLQ0eHVIpIcYlA-X0KTmOuYqP7FGwr4mElJmp3gUBAyPTTRVGRSgd5vjflRe7SWomCass/s320/20180306_084617.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
And a sleeve<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGtujWw3Kh_4PUcqQeXMZwADAndRygAZztNQDQIF4LYzz-8JXm1fY2Q9MFUUrvip1xE9oXb6OvrzZxfdnlqApbA25cKgs_fuJlqtG1sDwJL8Xq1w57SYUIOM-iutL11qvKLMr8/s1600/Screenshot_20180309-123634%255B1%255D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="432" data-original-width="288" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGtujWw3Kh_4PUcqQeXMZwADAndRygAZztNQDQIF4LYzz-8JXm1fY2Q9MFUUrvip1xE9oXb6OvrzZxfdnlqApbA25cKgs_fuJlqtG1sDwJL8Xq1w57SYUIOM-iutL11qvKLMr8/s320/Screenshot_20180309-123634%255B1%255D.jpg" width="213" /></a></div>
<br />
(screen shot of a marco polo video I took for my friends showing off my one sleeved sweater. Not an actual video. Pressing play will do nothing. Sorry for the frustration. I cropped the screen shot but not enough. Whatcha gonna do?)<br /><br />
Side note: I'm not entirely sure what happened to my mirror between the time I photographed the body of the sweater and the time I photographed the sweater with a sleeve. But obviously some serious stuff went down in my bathroom. I could ask my kids but I'm not sure I actually want to know.<br />
<br />
And then I had two sleeves (not pictured) and I was soaking my sweater to block<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgb-TflmGHP_8ZGXnsUXJO_F0Dxt4d2enJwN11ixT1_mKduD_zSwiGQR4aZOaAQKBMj9EsNn1Gz8L_L6ul4uc36_W2vO9RTJru5QzSLEjYjF-eHnqOIEkBN5GfqOziboPJX6S9h/s1600/20180309_110949.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgb-TflmGHP_8ZGXnsUXJO_F0Dxt4d2enJwN11ixT1_mKduD_zSwiGQR4aZOaAQKBMj9EsNn1Gz8L_L6ul4uc36_W2vO9RTJru5QzSLEjYjF-eHnqOIEkBN5GfqOziboPJX6S9h/s320/20180309_110949.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
I mentioned to a friend that I was soaking my sweater and she begged me to lay it out today and not let my gorgeous sweater mold.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpNWxbG93t6BofBjllpcWBZVAEoHn5RrKKPxKgqWibUn5YjLeqmUagBr1amqluqV0Hs0PR5CbwgdydcPebtioP4hMZb-NwX_Zcyr8bsKZEbcLl9sX2_e9hIQLpTHSjwfQ6TUXs/s1600/Screenshot_20180309-123838%255B1%255D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="288" data-original-width="432" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpNWxbG93t6BofBjllpcWBZVAEoHn5RrKKPxKgqWibUn5YjLeqmUagBr1amqluqV0Hs0PR5CbwgdydcPebtioP4hMZb-NwX_Zcyr8bsKZEbcLl9sX2_e9hIQLpTHSjwfQ6TUXs/s320/Screenshot_20180309-123838%255B1%255D.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
So I did!<br />
<br />
In an unprecedented display of knitterly responsibility I have laid my sweater out to block after only soaking for three hours.<br />
<br />
I am just as shocked and amazed as you are.<br />
<br />
If things go well and the cat doesn't ruin everything at the last moment I should have a new sweater by this time tomorrow.Mammahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02229721741744499958noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10129212.post-36623829590727581492018-03-06T09:00:00.000-05:002018-03-06T09:00:13.404-05:00I SpyIf you were paying attention yesterday, and you weren't too blinded by all the glorious tweed, you might have noticed I was wearing another fine piece of knitting.<br />

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I wonder if she wears hers and thinks of me. We don't talk like we used to. But that is true of everyone I know since the Queen was born. My life took a major upheaval and I'm still digging out a new "normal." But the love is there. She's the kind of friend you can just call and talk to after months of no contact and it is like no time has passed at all. My life is richer for knowing her and I'm so happy she took the time to create this gorgeous project with me. </div>

<br />
My Husband just wishes I were exaggerating.<br />
<br />
Every year I pick a "favorite sweater," usually one that was recently knit, and this "favorite sweater" becomes my go to item worn everywhere every day.<br />
<br />
This is my current "favorite sweater"<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDv1Pveqb5z4C5W3t1ffN1BO4KjTvUfeSaSixubgu-gikkLQyOdDTwhTzC0xgRaCqRr7cP2D0v8_Qw36Pwwjqmz0SKW6UIPb5JLZMneZNgxJiS-QV6f_Mzb3Lyn86Crwvfn-uX/s1600/20180305_090942.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDv1Pveqb5z4C5W3t1ffN1BO4KjTvUfeSaSixubgu-gikkLQyOdDTwhTzC0xgRaCqRr7cP2D0v8_Qw36Pwwjqmz0SKW6UIPb5JLZMneZNgxJiS-QV6f_Mzb3Lyn86Crwvfn-uX/s320/20180305_090942.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
Does it look familiar?<br />
<br />
It is my Tweedy Sweater that I was knitting all the way back in October 2016<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKleH7OFo2fijBdepAj2V13iRGQaooV4U_YePktJGTOLrOA0_qYirB1a-v2n8hMSEg-yc9AfOhZPaAe1fEGVT70LnbDEaPokmSGX2lF698HKy1URzLfCOBhyXAdP_tOLfWpdCx/s1600/tweed.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="500" data-original-width="333" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKleH7OFo2fijBdepAj2V13iRGQaooV4U_YePktJGTOLrOA0_qYirB1a-v2n8hMSEg-yc9AfOhZPaAe1fEGVT70LnbDEaPokmSGX2lF698HKy1URzLfCOBhyXAdP_tOLfWpdCx/s320/tweed.jpg" width="213" /></a></div>
<br />
Look how tiny the Queen was!<br />
<br />
Look how dirty my mirror was!<br />
<br />
Just keeping things real around here. I've got five kids who splash when they was their hands. Sometimes my mirrors gets dirty. I'm just grateful they wash their hands. It's the tiny victories that mean the most.<br />
<br />
But back to the sweater.<br />
<br />
On any given day I look like this<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0T0gFLgAmIPqyzwB1k-Hkgeu7DMZkusse82Va9yJBb71twcV5DVgUseDVy0jtOWOxdv_XBCuMIzo4CmzhUg2hb4uyRmKCmSAYN9ihUlBn_XLVGg4C6QnTiU99u2FWk_Pmhxx7/s1600/20180305_090513.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0T0gFLgAmIPqyzwB1k-Hkgeu7DMZkusse82Va9yJBb71twcV5DVgUseDVy0jtOWOxdv_XBCuMIzo4CmzhUg2hb4uyRmKCmSAYN9ihUlBn_XLVGg4C6QnTiU99u2FWk_Pmhxx7/s320/20180305_090513.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
Because this sweater is long, and cozy, and warm and awesome and did I mention the tweed?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwV27-LzhjaQWyOGt7T5kW8HwYPKZsyqP1rohfenvpzdfJvSelVCJMgNgEQRH1hpJwzlx0jYstVq3uBDX2NyOuwE4vUD3ic5Og-O-hIvdv7DPl45NEfdlIPc4YaIBrYUqUXtde/s1600/20180305_090541.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwV27-LzhjaQWyOGt7T5kW8HwYPKZsyqP1rohfenvpzdfJvSelVCJMgNgEQRH1hpJwzlx0jYstVq3uBDX2NyOuwE4vUD3ic5Og-O-hIvdv7DPl45NEfdlIPc4YaIBrYUqUXtde/s320/20180305_090541.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
Cause look at all those gorgeous tweedy flecks!<br /><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_RtZPCI0oE2YM66JhKafW87XbzNIE0utnySDcb9wjfQ8W68KHZ5634shGxQCbWswqLP3xa78U8joc2ZIjOstoIngzYCdqG7PK11wPkPkNgrQ163yBGS5fkPw8WPtgrjC2WTII/s1600/20180305_090953.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_RtZPCI0oE2YM66JhKafW87XbzNIE0utnySDcb9wjfQ8W68KHZ5634shGxQCbWswqLP3xa78U8joc2ZIjOstoIngzYCdqG7PK11wPkPkNgrQ163yBGS5fkPw8WPtgrjC2WTII/s320/20180305_090953.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
The back isn't too special to look at. This sweater had a fun construction where you knit it horizontal, then you picked up stitches and knit it vertical. Which might show more if I had knit it with plain yarn but I don't care, no f*cks to give, because TWEED!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDj5MO5fsFSv4tL4Qj2WvXY5sx-ji27OyHfNeQJsavG_eE6gcF8gSP2HWr2DLX63XTgDHxBUSmTFpUKz9oejf48EElXRyakzx1a-k7pyk12pcZpQu4hRtLISbftzPqVQNoFkOX/s1600/20180305_090559.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDj5MO5fsFSv4tL4Qj2WvXY5sx-ji27OyHfNeQJsavG_eE6gcF8gSP2HWr2DLX63XTgDHxBUSmTFpUKz9oejf48EElXRyakzx1a-k7pyk12pcZpQu4hRtLISbftzPqVQNoFkOX/s320/20180305_090559.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>

<br />
Look at all that tweed to love. I am have a torrid affair with tweed right now. I can not get enough of it and I want to knit ALL.THE.THINGS. in soft tweedy yarn.<br />
<br />

<br />
What's not to love?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
The Queen was incredibly busy.<br />
<br />
So I had to bribe her with a donut<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyg4RL_Kv5fLeCOTMTgA1rF7bY7fXwW6-wdSdVXF7qpRW_ppuk2yVRU5098X350HrCFAzhJnk5m9XLxILhUbyOoRNuW0IHGduSmTa5IiQ5L70aLBVwZGcQu-46CzW7TfZ8PKZ8/s1600/20180223_124145.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyg4RL_Kv5fLeCOTMTgA1rF7bY7fXwW6-wdSdVXF7qpRW_ppuk2yVRU5098X350HrCFAzhJnk5m9XLxILhUbyOoRNuW0IHGduSmTa5IiQ5L70aLBVwZGcQu-46CzW7TfZ8PKZ8/s320/20180223_124145.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
So I could try to get a shot of these gorgeous cables and lace.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4jZ1kdBCLtdUGzLpW1oLJ_juvwsYcl2kDU6g-HKz00LMsITMdrA9dwTkvGKiotgqgqUvMEX9l-lvKLRQrtOlUI24eB19gnOGJQUw-gAC4hCcLz7V3qQpWX0ZVXxLny5smvhQg/s1600/20180223_124149.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4jZ1kdBCLtdUGzLpW1oLJ_juvwsYcl2kDU6g-HKz00LMsITMdrA9dwTkvGKiotgqgqUvMEX9l-lvKLRQrtOlUI24eB19gnOGJQUw-gAC4hCcLz7V3qQpWX0ZVXxLny5smvhQg/s320/20180223_124149.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Seriously.<br />
<br />
I need to knit ALL.THE.THINGS in tweedy cables.<br />
<br />
The pattern was pretty straight forward and easy to use. It runs from size four to adult sizes so I am incredibly tempted to knit one for each of my daughters. They are too old to think dressing alike is fun anymore. But maybe if I knit each of them one in their favorite color they'll make an exception? Just this once?<br />
<br />
I think I just hatched an evil plot.<br />
<br />
Must order more tweed!Mammahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02229721741744499958noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10129212.post-29862438613440959352018-02-26T11:50:00.000-05:002018-02-26T11:50:22.572-05:00ChangesI've known for some time that the Queen needed to move out of her crib. <br />
<br />
Night after night I could hear her banging around in there.<br />
<br />
Yet I resisted.<br />
<br />
She was safe in her crib. She was contained in her crib. And most importantly she was sleeping through the night in her crib.<br />
<br />
I was unwilling to mess with any of that.<br />
<br />
If it ain't broke don't fix it!<br />
<br />
But I knew it was coming. I had tentatively scheduled the change in my mind over spring break. That seemed like a good time for a big room redo. Because it wasn't just a matter of moving the crib out and putting a bed in. Having the Queen free to move around the room requires next level baby proofing. Having the children around to help supervise the Queen while The Greatest and I worked on her room seemed like a good plan.<br />
<br />
Last week I moved her twin size mattress into her room to store until spring break.<br />
<br />
When the Queen saw the mattress in her room she threw herself down on it. She giggled and giggled and giggled the happiest of giggles.<br />
<br />
And she refused to move.<br />
<br />
So I laid beside her and sang "lullabies" to her (and by lullabies I mean I sing her old songs from the nineties that are way more inappropriate for children than I realized during the nineties).<br />
<br />
And she slept.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpZhY7yFoW2fCbEikf4yauyGsSowC3B1HQRphx49WMtIV4LpRWnHmKQu476Bn_oa2bEq_l-jm9Lov50_wWAv1GeQ1P8Omdwg44KFvbKgJnTUem1LjyKKDgOZ3jJA9GdSbDXuqn/s1600/20180219_204505.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpZhY7yFoW2fCbEikf4yauyGsSowC3B1HQRphx49WMtIV4LpRWnHmKQu476Bn_oa2bEq_l-jm9Lov50_wWAv1GeQ1P8Omdwg44KFvbKgJnTUem1LjyKKDgOZ3jJA9GdSbDXuqn/s320/20180219_204505.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
There was no returning to the crib for this big girl.<br />
<br />
Cue five days of frantic quilting<br />
<br />

And Lily-proofing until we had a perfect<br />

Big Girl Room.<br />
<br />
With the exception of her humidifier and essential oil diffuser everything in her room is safe for her to touch and move and play with. All outlets are locked. There are multiple baby gates between her and the stairs (not that she can't safely navigate stairs, but I worry about her trying in the dark, and honestly I don't want her wandering downstairs at night.)<br />
<br />
While she is not sleeping through the night in her big girl bed she does enjoy sleeping in it.<br />
<br />
This morning she refused to get out of her bed.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgg4atfjLOpT-FD6FBPiT3o3Lr6j2t_FZnrGlWFvvWGmucyBu05argOOTpfpoZc2puC4BzvsXVJUgRe6KYLUZDRJZM16EUAu0HO8EcJgTWM0Zq707Ip4leor2y1mnXmmaIAFPLg/s1600/20180226_070054.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgg4atfjLOpT-FD6FBPiT3o3Lr6j2t_FZnrGlWFvvWGmucyBu05argOOTpfpoZc2puC4BzvsXVJUgRe6KYLUZDRJZM16EUAu0HO8EcJgTWM0Zq707Ip4leor2y1mnXmmaIAFPLg/s320/20180226_070054.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
When I finally managed to get her out of her bed and downstairs to get ready for preschool she was so angry at me she hid in the dryer in protest.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjykiuboHYWYnkEYRdEPOcseIM7qUe1reDDGmCct0DMeAeYv1rG_F6nLV_nuFpK4Q4XUaESQolOLoRa4EcXXaaHUOAW2IEsTlWcocoQQHaJpiLeYTptMiZPkrFk2W1A77q84NVk/s1600/20180226_070840.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjykiuboHYWYnkEYRdEPOcseIM7qUe1reDDGmCct0DMeAeYv1rG_F6nLV_nuFpK4Q4XUaESQolOLoRa4EcXXaaHUOAW2IEsTlWcocoQQHaJpiLeYTptMiZPkrFk2W1A77q84NVk/s320/20180226_070840.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
So all in all Operations Big Girl Room was a huge success.Mammahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02229721741744499958noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10129212.post-1981721496494593562018-01-30T19:53:00.001-05:002018-01-30T19:53:37.929-05:00A Happy EndingSo I finished the thing.<br />
<br />
Look how much yarn I had left at the end.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiA90bCB1Y1ON1Jr4SG8FSHBDlheD8ix7DzO_qXz0mPZh6w9FPmRx49Ni4Yl9nvsZxrU9Y1IGbL98jSYGrXTLUyONdA6K1a7QRMqUbL3dYmN5GBKAkXZKT7WwzeJMPXNEfvtV1a/s1600/IMG_2480.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1065" data-original-width="1600" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiA90bCB1Y1ON1Jr4SG8FSHBDlheD8ix7DzO_qXz0mPZh6w9FPmRx49Ni4Yl9nvsZxrU9Y1IGbL98jSYGrXTLUyONdA6K1a7QRMqUbL3dYmN5GBKAkXZKT7WwzeJMPXNEfvtV1a/s320/IMG_2480.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The two skeins were supposed to have identical yardage, but there was so much more left over of the black/grey yarn. And I cast on and cast off with the black/grey yarn. I only vaguely had enough of the rainbow yarn to weave in.<br />
<br />
Weird.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhaHV62FBIhO3Tm84x8AHlEZZy7oexQYGz9U0mzcxXs_pxhFUogiz7ICQue8cFCAXqpehwHLYONKnADHdPohW51iF28n2KP3tTnA19RkteDIKm5I38XzdvkJdBcAbotEojvPeJw/s1600/IMG_2483.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1065" data-original-width="1600" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhaHV62FBIhO3Tm84x8AHlEZZy7oexQYGz9U0mzcxXs_pxhFUogiz7ICQue8cFCAXqpehwHLYONKnADHdPohW51iF28n2KP3tTnA19RkteDIKm5I38XzdvkJdBcAbotEojvPeJw/s320/IMG_2483.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I took the path of least resistance and just kept knitting with what I had. I didn't alter the cast on number. I didn't buy more skeins.<br />
<br />
When all was said and done...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEil2zNJpVfLTrI9Ohq3SRhX6nziLia72PAosnnWo5_edJlbZJ1S_RMlFkyofti1sl6hqx57mX3QYp7a3KkRLgSw_lQ2oiPyQaEefFFsKXBaQO9FtBr57OXZwyqSsjjLgMVbiWDk/s1600/IMG_2481.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1065" data-original-width="1600" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEil2zNJpVfLTrI9Ohq3SRhX6nziLia72PAosnnWo5_edJlbZJ1S_RMlFkyofti1sl6hqx57mX3QYp7a3KkRLgSw_lQ2oiPyQaEefFFsKXBaQO9FtBr57OXZwyqSsjjLgMVbiWDk/s320/IMG_2481.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
it was just over 53 inches. Which is on the short side for an adult scarf. <br />
<br />
But it's just fine for a child scarf.<br />
<br />
And I just so happen to have a house full of children who would love a stripey rainbow scarf. It turns out I didn't really want to own a stripey rainbow scarf. I just really wanted to knit a stripey rainbow scarf.<br />
<br />
So I took a few pictures<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvGS-1v0OLd04meAxbae85a9jmspPzrCT5oAZ_dBYtYOCK9UcO9o5uTgaLDFWdKFGbadm5NTkLhLlAlrw5S5OP6BbAGyJ1ZyDHdD293ZGAOrHU73plrMaWAEaxL7o82fanoguA/s1600/IMG_2482.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1065" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvGS-1v0OLd04meAxbae85a9jmspPzrCT5oAZ_dBYtYOCK9UcO9o5uTgaLDFWdKFGbadm5NTkLhLlAlrw5S5OP6BbAGyJ1ZyDHdD293ZGAOrHU73plrMaWAEaxL7o82fanoguA/s320/IMG_2482.JPG" width="212" /></a></div>

<br />
I rolled it up into a sushi roll<br />

<br />
And I set it on the piano.<br />
<br />
And I waited.<br />
<br />
It wasn't long before Pork Chop asked "whose scarf is this?"<br />
<br />
I told her it could be hers if she wanted.<br />
<br />
She grinned ear to ear as she wrapped it around her neck saying "this is the nicest thing that has happened to me all day."<br />
<br />
And seeing her smile was the nicest thing that happened to me all day.<br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfHIMYTU9j013gyu1BDnIcEu3bygwaGiP4Pph3esd_Tdbt8fAmlQ9pECiBM-AFVtdCMfMlASSxZOdQaBEO1RFM7XrxrP8XDFDE9t6le8rK7J_9ajcXAfVhX__ZxmwglusgYzP2/s1600/IMG_2476.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1065" data-original-width="1600" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfHIMYTU9j013gyu1BDnIcEu3bygwaGiP4Pph3esd_Tdbt8fAmlQ9pECiBM-AFVtdCMfMlASSxZOdQaBEO1RFM7XrxrP8XDFDE9t6le8rK7J_9ajcXAfVhX__ZxmwglusgYzP2/s320/IMG_2476.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Yup.<br />
<br />
I cast on for a Noro Scarf with the Landscapes yarn.<br />
<br />
Just look at those stripes<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBHAMPWVCG4ndKFikv4eCqdhC8jMck93AyVbEH7-tI4TlFmTMrUrttxypohpQfSIwQLKYKQapRHpnNqvctOIszwEjjS-_yRB-iHxbh2QAgvyqT6EShyAoUugyHUqybrTT_-btb/s1600/IMG_2478.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1065" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBHAMPWVCG4ndKFikv4eCqdhC8jMck93AyVbEH7-tI4TlFmTMrUrttxypohpQfSIwQLKYKQapRHpnNqvctOIszwEjjS-_yRB-iHxbh2QAgvyqT6EShyAoUugyHUqybrTT_-btb/s320/IMG_2478.JPG" width="212" /></a></div>
<br />
Who can resist knitting stripe after stripe of glorious rainbow colors?<br />
<br />
Obviously not me.<br />
<br />
But now I have a dilemma.<br />
<br />
I have one skein of each color. Ravelry projects say this can be knit with two skeins. But most of those projects cast on for fewer stitches than the pattern suggest. I cast the 39 stitches the original scarf called for and my scarf is a little over six inches wide. While I love the wider scarf I fear I'm sacrificing length for width and I will end up with a scarf that is too short.<br />
<br />
So I frog it all and reknit with a more slender cast on?<br />
<br />
Or do I turn a stash busting project into a yarn acquisition project and attempt to track down a few more skeins of Landscape? The nature of this project allows for different dye lots or even different color schemes.<br />
<br />
Decisions. Decisions.<br />
<br />
I should probably go back to knitting my big mammoth cocoon while I mull over my choices in my head.Mammahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02229721741744499958noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10129212.post-62894640906583930542018-01-28T17:17:00.000-05:002018-01-28T17:17:23.364-05:00Project Monogamy is HardFriday marked the triumphant return to Preschool and Therapy for the Queen.<br />
<br />
And we all breathed a sigh of relief.<br />
<br />
Friday afternoon I found myself happily alone in a waiting room casting on for a second sock<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyhRG4LZ1EhKxf-YvbQPyXmne2agiyJNWj_YBFuF4J51aODvz4Ys7plHwVgPbHwEmyARz1Gj7fI3ihx9dqbAzxD8O0jCdxZ2FaXErQSQMVI8Yv0hhFlp7xTPzDw4ORMV4aJxgU/s1600/IMG_2469.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1065" data-original-width="1600" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyhRG4LZ1EhKxf-YvbQPyXmne2agiyJNWj_YBFuF4J51aODvz4Ys7plHwVgPbHwEmyARz1Gj7fI3ihx9dqbAzxD8O0jCdxZ2FaXErQSQMVI8Yv0hhFlp7xTPzDw4ORMV4aJxgU/s320/IMG_2469.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Unfortunately shortly after cast on someone entered the waiting room reeking of cigarette smoke causing an instant migraine. So this is all the further I got. I'm starting to see why it took over a year to finish the first sock. Good thing this isn't a race.<br />
<br />
So..... I did a thing.<br />
<br />
I cast on for the cocoon sweater in black mohair.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbT0UByD2u4DBupE9bdMl1KdRCbDnD_144HFvGpvI8-Y-H-pAy6r6sGf-tUn7SNcoCtOiejnFHotBlFr47vodXkfATJrvT8rDVux7adxODYIAY9T37wBxVjRfChmfy53ITzsPa/s1600/IMG_2467.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1065" data-original-width="1600" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbT0UByD2u4DBupE9bdMl1KdRCbDnD_144HFvGpvI8-Y-H-pAy6r6sGf-tUn7SNcoCtOiejnFHotBlFr47vodXkfATJrvT8rDVux7adxODYIAY9T37wBxVjRfChmfy53ITzsPa/s320/IMG_2467.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
It is a monstrosity.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgiYUmc6oxyBtGz4hTphgtmGRg3-pywo9tp5r5O_ynBhPHmxE-yYc7DXkbiam4W0zFHDK5fi7dW3-uN8MVe40i1mA4U8j9cL0LP78CvxSePtfqBxCafXbyRQPG2dvr8YBGdzhw/s1600/IMG_2465.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1065" data-original-width="1600" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgiYUmc6oxyBtGz4hTphgtmGRg3-pywo9tp5r5O_ynBhPHmxE-yYc7DXkbiam4W0zFHDK5fi7dW3-uN8MVe40i1mA4U8j9cL0LP78CvxSePtfqBxCafXbyRQPG2dvr8YBGdzhw/s320/IMG_2465.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
So far I've knit 26 inches. It will be 44 inches long when finished. It's supposed to be a big huge square of stockinette stitch that will be folded origami style then stitched into place to become a cardigan.<br />
<br />
I still can't decide if this is ...<br />
<br />
A) going to be the most wonderful slouchy warm fuzzy black cardigan ever that will elevate my slumming it at home in my comfy clothes game.<br />
<br />
Or<br />
<br />
B) going to be a disaster of epic proportions that makes me look like a ginormous fuzzy black bear, or possibly a lumpy moldy potato.<br />
<br />
Or<br />
<br />
C) it could possibly be both. I'm going to have to solider on and knit the remaining 18 inches to find out.<br />
<br />
But it's hard. I don't wanna knit it anymore. It's getting huge and unwieldy and I don't wanna deal with it right now. I wanna cast on for something new!<br />
<br />
Someone gifted me with these skein yesterday<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvktLrU4VBCMr7ZMVW3ZPEOhV6mGrptPV-ZIL1Bs2OCQ4rj86jQZS-sH4EnmiDsIdq6LXSiJb4oGPC19IqZ9h6Xlg5sqHSWYATz0PxlOCtDo8TRhqVd7XSShG4MGiqd8HNMMml/s1600/IMG_2458.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1065" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvktLrU4VBCMr7ZMVW3ZPEOhV6mGrptPV-ZIL1Bs2OCQ4rj86jQZS-sH4EnmiDsIdq6LXSiJb4oGPC19IqZ9h6Xlg5sqHSWYATz0PxlOCtDo8TRhqVd7XSShG4MGiqd8HNMMml/s320/IMG_2458.JPG" width="212" /></a></div>
<br />
So pretty right! At first glance they don't seem like they would go together in the same project.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHbbiAi3PCcN6i35-DcQFxQ2_2cBgsDFrXZmXGLHLhL5o5oG2Y9c85gLXgaNFRkiTmfC7NZIH1U5TBw4eoMhPk-Kz2H98VOueLA17H0qok9XTFmDDznRu8IHRvHoSUt43dkudS/s1600/IMG_2460.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1065" data-original-width="1600" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHbbiAi3PCcN6i35-DcQFxQ2_2cBgsDFrXZmXGLHLhL5o5oG2Y9c85gLXgaNFRkiTmfC7NZIH1U5TBw4eoMhPk-Kz2H98VOueLA17H0qok9XTFmDDznRu8IHRvHoSUt43dkudS/s320/IMG_2460.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Look at those stormy greys! Look at that rainbow!<br />
<br />
How would you even use these two very different color schemes in the same project?<br />
<br />
But I think they would be perfect together in a <a href="https://www.brooklyntweed.com/notebook/noro-scarf/">Brooklyn Tweed Noro Scarf</a> kind of project and oh.my.goodness.I.WANNA.KNIT.IT.NOW! It is taking all my self control not to cast on, and I think my self control is running out. I don't want to be a grown up in my hobbies. I want to run wild and fill all 27 of my random size bags with 27 random size projects in 27 random stages of completing. I want to cast on ALL.THE.THINGS!<br />
<br />
And in the midst of all this I found myself knitting a swatch for a new Knit Picks test knit.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8zhPpce51qYXExAZrhtjthxOQcFnw2ISmk_gXlPTNEaOoxIxjjxLZ1I_KjFq_IQJsOjPOdvPvlP2wChQlJ9baXasMauk8zX3Y8u7cGWTVteZYMsXV2cwNbRaLMqkMDQMuTAka/s1600/IMG_2447.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1065" data-original-width="1600" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8zhPpce51qYXExAZrhtjthxOQcFnw2ISmk_gXlPTNEaOoxIxjjxLZ1I_KjFq_IQJsOjPOdvPvlP2wChQlJ9baXasMauk8zX3Y8u7cGWTVteZYMsXV2cwNbRaLMqkMDQMuTAka/s320/IMG_2447.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Evidently project monogamy is just not a concept that is going to work out for me.Mammahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02229721741744499958noreply@blogger.com0
