Going Overboard

Just in case you were wondering

This is what 492.5 ounces of frozen breast milk looks like.  When we first started pumping and bottle feeding breast milk I was concerned about my ability to adequately pump enough food to feed Squishy each day.  I consulted with our Pediatrician about which formula would be best to use in addition with the breast milk just in case we needed it.  I shouldn't have been so worried.  I have produced enough to feed Squishy 24 ounces each day, plus all this for my freezer.

I might be part cow.

Moooooo.

And now on to the good stuff...

MY BABY WEARING HAND KNITS!

I might have gone a little over board with this ensemble.

It all started with the baby pants.

I loves me some hand knit baby pants!

The pattern is Leapfrog from Petite Purls.  I used the yarn left over from my Creature Comforts Cardigan.  I knit this when I was newly pregnant and unsure if this pregnancy would stick.  I prayed with each stitch, dreaming of my chubby baby.  Sure this yarn is grey, and boyish, and I'm not gonna lie, I was sort of hoping for a boy.  In my defense Meaty really REALLY wanted a brother.  But I had a back up plan if this baby turned out to be a girl (which she did).  Add a pink onesie and a hair bow and VOILA it is a pair of pants fit for a princess.

When I finished the pants I still had a sizable ball of yarn left.  So I did the only thing I could do.

I knit a matching cardigan.  Baby Vertebrae has been my go to baby pattern for every baby shower I've attended for the past year.  It was only right that my own baby should get one.  I added the cable pattern from the pants to the back of the sweater.

And yet I still had more yarn.

So I knit on.  Of course the baby would need some booties.   At this point in the photo shoot Squishy was getting rather restless and refused to let me photograph her feet.  So you'll just have to trust me, they're cute.  They have an i-cord around the ankles, which mimics the i-cord on the waist of the pants.  It is all very matchy matchy.  I knit ribbing at the top of the booties instead of seed stitch.  Again this matches the ribbing at the top of the pants.  Matchy matchy.

And still there was more yarn

So still I knit.  The only thing left to knit was a matching hat.  How cute is that knot on top of the hat?  I added the cable pattern to the front of the hat as well, but you can't see it in this picture.  And by this time Squishy was completely done posing for me.  She is unaccustomed to me and my crazy picture taking ways.

She will learn.

And that is how Squishy ended up with the most ridiculous, and slightly depressing, baby ensemble ever.  Seriously, no baby should ever wear that much grey.  The Greatest thinks she looks like a storm trooper in her bulky grey knits.  I've decided that while the individual pieces are all cute, she should never wear more than two grey hand knit items at the same time.

And those two items should not be the sweater and pants.

Still, isn't she the cutest baby in depressing knits every!
